Rusatom signs VVER service agreement with Energoatom
Energoatom have signed an agreement to cooperate on the servicing of VVER nuclear power plants at all stages of their life cycle. Rusatom Service was set up in 2011 to deal with the maintenance and modernization of Russian-designed nuclear power plants overseas.
The agreement, signed in Kiev on 31 October, will see Rusatom Service and Energoatom cooperate on the maintenance of nuclear power plants and other facilities, both in Ukraine and in other markets, Rusatom said in a statement.
The companies are expected to cooperate in engineering and technical support of nuclear power plants with VVER reactors, their maintenance, systems and equipment repair. They could also cooperate in the modernization of VVER reactors, supplying equipment to them, implementing life extension projects, as well as decommissioning, and personnel training.
“There are also other possible cooperation areas of mutual interest,” Rusatom said.
