Paul Murray has written an interesting blog on the West Oz website about power prices in the Western Australia.
Lots of One big Switch members in WA have told us they want to switch, but in his blog Murray raises some interesting arguments about why WA is stuck in the bad old days, before retail contestability, and why power prices are political dynamite.
While the pollies bicker about who is to blame for steeply rising power costs it seems WA consumers still aren’t paying anything like the cost of production.
In short it seems there’s still more pain to come with higher utility bills and plenty of it, and Murray doesn’t believe that allowing consumers to switch electricity will help.
What do you think of Murray’s arguments? Would a choice of electricity retailers really help WA consumers? Let us know…
